Goans are more emotional about their food. Goan food is spicy, tangy and largely non-vegetarian. The main ingredients of Goan cuisine are Seafood, coconut milk, rice and spices. While authentic famous goan food eaten by the locals is extremely fiery, the food served on the shacks.

The basic components of Goan cooking are unique. The every part of the coconut is used for something which is not an idle one.. Another important product of the palm is jaggery, a dark colored jaggery that is mostly used in Goan sweetmeats.

Goan cooking generally involves liberal amounts of spices to give dishes a strange taste. The garlic and turmeric are most commonly used include cumin, coriander, chilies, . The main ingredient used to flavor fish curries is kokum.
There are number of spices used for different styles of cooking, which have subtly differing flavours-masala, vindaloo and balchao being some of the most famous.

Goan Fish Thali

The rice with that special spicy curry full of flavor and the fish is fried in a certain way which you will never find anywhere else . The accompaniments of tisreo sukhem, kismur, and sol kaddi add to the taste, all of this make an complete extremely unique dish to eat.

What comes in a Goan Fish Thali

Boiled rice (Bhat): In Restaurant they serve Boiled rice in bowl which can be eaten by fish or prawn curry, some goan people also eat with sol kadi.

Kismur: For making , used coconut salad of freshly grated coconut with tawa fried galmo mixed with turmeric, chili powder, coconut oil and golden brown onions.

Kodi (Curry): Goan curry comes in different forms. The best one is the ‘uman‘ (Konkani term). Prepared with fried onions, tomatoes and coconut oil with a ross (coconut milk mix) blended together with coriander seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric and Kashmiri chilies. Served hot, the uman has a tangy taste.

Sukhem: It is a dry dish cooked with Goan sambhar powder, green chilies, jaggery, garam masala, desiccated coconut and tamarind pulp. It is made with ‘tisreos‘ (small clams) and ‘kalva‘ (oysters) or even the big clams called ‘khubbe‘.

Fried fish: The most important thing which everyone looks in fish thali is Fried fish. There are mostly two fish given in every fish thali rava fried kingfish or chonak fillet. Its taste so mouth-watering which will melt your heart.

Pickle: No Goan meal is complete without pickle. It is made of mango pickle or lime or mixed vegetables.

Sol Kaddi: It is prepare with the kokum juice, chopped chilies, some garlic and finely chopped coriander. The sweet sour sol kaddi is simply awesome to drink and great for digestion.
